British Embassy Jobs in Cape Town – Programme Delivery Officer Vacancies
Main purpose of job:
You will be responsible for the management of a range of innovative programme funds that develop the UK South Africa bilateral relationship and local technical capabilities. You will lead our budgeting, forecasting, contracting and payment processes – working with relevant policy teams across the High Commission, and project implementers, to ensure project requirements are met.
You will also be responsible for providing high quality administrative support to the broader political team on visits, events and team management.
Roles and responsibilities:
Programme Management
Work with policy leads to ensure our overall programmes comply with FCDO financial management processes, including procurement rules.
Monitoring, analysing and reporting financial spend and feeding into the financial reporting system including through the quarterly report process. Lead on the invoicing and payments process using the FCDO administration programme on HERA.
Manage programme proposals for our policy work on anti-corruption, supporting South Africa’s response to the FATF listing and other related areas.
Advising colleagues and implementing partners on financial and reporting of projects focusing on resolving problems quickly and efficiently while ensuring robust adherence to regulations.
Monitoring the projects in line with the impact indicators (including, where relevant, through regular site visits and meetings with partners). Supporting evaluation work across the programme in line with the evaluation and review schedule.
Team Support
Contribute to wider policy, corporate and administrative work across the Political Team and wider High Commission.
During busy periods, assist with incoming visits or events across the political team.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Two years’ experience in a project management role
A university degree
Two years programme/project management experience
Experience managing medium (>£50,000) budgets
Must have fluent spoken and written English
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Experience of working with project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile etc)
Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodologies
Excellent IT skills (advanced skills in Excel)
Excellent administrative skills
Methodical and organised approach to tasks, with an eye for detail
