True North Reach Stalker Operator Jobs in Uganda
Job Purpose
Responsible for operating a reach stacker to load, unload, and transport shipping containers and other heavy cargo in a safe and efficient manner.
Activities
Operate the reach stacker to lift, stack, and move shipping containers and cargo according to operational requirements.
Safely load and unload containers from trucks, trains, and storage areas, ensuring proper balance and stability.
Inspect containers and cargo for damage, proper weight distribution, and secure fastening before lifting.
Coordinate with ground personnel and communicate via radio to ensure safe and accurate container movements.
Maneuver the reach stacker within confined spaces, including stacking containers up to several levels high.
Follow established safety protocols, including proper positioning, lifting, and placing of containers.
Ensure accurate placement of containers in designated areas, considering weight limits and stacking patterns.
Collaborate with other equipment operators and ground crews to optimize workflow and container handling.
Complete required documentation, such as operation logs and inspection reports, accurately and promptly.
Perform routine maintenance tasks on the reach stacker, including checks on fluids, tires, and mechanical components.
Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
Person Specification
Skills & Experience Education & Training:
Minimum O’ level certificate (additional technical training is an added advantage).
Must be a certified Reach Stacker operator.
Holder of a valid driving permit class CM or CH.
Defensive driving certificate
Medical Fitness to work
Skills & Experience:
Minimum experience of 7 years.
Proven experience as a Reach Stacker Operator, demonstrating competence and adherence to safety protocols.
Knowledge of container handling techniques, weight distribution, and stacking patterns.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and ground personnel.
Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy and safety in all tasks.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills to maintain efficient operations.
