Activities

  • Support to Social Performance managers in the identification, design, analysis, procurement of contractors, and delivery of community development programs.
  • Provide overall technical expertise and management of all agricultural-related activities.
  • Design and implement a community mobilization strategy for the community development projects in collaboration with the Company stakeholder engagement and community liaison team.
  • Develop project plans (six-month, quarterly, monthly) based on the strategies and project objectives and work collaboratively with the project implementers to ensure the delivery of the outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
  • Monitor progress of on-going projects relevant to achievement of objectives and assess impact and effectiveness of the programs through regular consultations with community liaison teams, program beneficiaries, local government counterparts and contractors, field monitoring, preparation of reports.
  • Contribute to reports, briefings and discussions on local development issues for the

    Company, and brief experts, consultants, missions and visiting officials.
  • Maintain a database of farmers groups, VSLA, woman’s’ groups, and other socioeconomic groups in communities; identifying opportunities to strengthen their capacity.
  • Facilitate the promotion to farmers, small business owners in the food supply chain,

    and other community members about strategies for improving their businesses and livelihoods through cooperation; Facilitate the formation of producer groups agricultural cooperatives, VSLA, and other development groups in the community.
  • With the community liaison team mobilize and engage with communities on development matters and projects.
  • Update the social data base with livelihood related information regular.
  • Support linkages to markets, financials service providers, input suppliers and other appropriate service providers.
  • Document project success stories.
  • Propose, and support market research and feasibility studies, and any other studies relevant to community development.
  • Assist in drafting, editing and distribution of information materials and publications intended for external distribution.

    Relations with community development stakeholders

  • To ensure the buy-in of relevant Government authorities and JV partners for any supported initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a map of community development actors and initiatives in target communities
  • Work closely with the district local Governments, maintaining contacts with the

    appropriate departments and officials to increase knowledge about and visibility of Company community development programs, to ensure effective project design and support for program success.
  • Assist coordination activities in the field of local development including provision of information, presentations and other backstopping as required, maintaining close contacts with Social Performance Managers, Tilenga project contractors, joint venture partners, government and relevant authorities, and other development actors.
  • Follow the development-related activities in the country, especially those related to local and rural development, participate in relevant conferences, workshops and seminars and provide inputs and backstopping to such events when required.
  • Support communities with information and advice on how to participate other development programs such as the parish development model

    Person Specification

    Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in the fields of Agriculture Economics, Agronomy, Business Administration, Rural Development, Enterprise Development or other relevant qualification

    Experience:

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to maintain good relations with a wide range of local stakeholders, NGOs, donors, local authorities, local communities.
  • Ability to work in a team, take initiative, highly organized and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Understands cooperative business principles.
  • Experience in Agribusiness is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards is preferred.
  • Experience in delivering livelihood programs is preferred
