Ministry of Education & Sports Social Safeguards Assistant Jobs in Uganda
Job Purpose
The Social Development assistants shall work with the PCU, the Ministry of Education and the relevant District Local Governments/Municipalities to implement the Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs),
Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), Social Risk Management Plans (SRMPs), Gender
Management Plans (GMPs), Community Engagement Plans and the Community Development Action
Plans (CDAP).
The Social Development Assistants will ensure that various interventions implemented under USEEP are
in line with the requirements of the legal, policy and regulatory framework of Uganda and in compliance with requirements of the World Bank Environmental and Social Safeguards policies.
The incumbent will mainly be determining, to what extent the Social Safeguard Policies, laws and guidelines of Government of Uganda and the World Bank are being followed during implementation of such activities as: construction of school infrastructure, capacity building initiatives; level of compliance with regard to the provisions in Occupational Health and Safety; and other cross cutting issues such as Child Abuse, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (SEA/SH), Grievance Redress, Gender Based Violence and HIV/AIDS and stakeholder engagements.
The assistants will also participate in all project site meetings and provide technical guidance on social related issues that may arise during project implementation.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Evaluation, Education, Anthropology, Gender and Local Economic Development, Public Policy and
Administration, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Project management or other relevant Social Science fields from a recognised institution.
Experience
Impacts
resettlements and rehabilitation for infrastructure construction programs, gender analysis and culturally appropriate community engagement and grievance management are desirable
Competences
Environmental and Social Standards, guidelines, and procedures. Experience of working as social
expert in at least two World Bank or multilateral funded projects is required.
