Q-Sourcing Limited, trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec, is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of one of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Magazine Keeper.
Role Description and Purpose
To ensure the Efficient and Effective operations in the Magazine area to dispatch and receive finished products, detonators, tubing and raw materials in accordance with the national code for the transport of explosives by road and rail and established SH&E and Quality standards.
Key Accountabilities
SHE
Ensuring that the Distribution Safety schedule is met, and adequate feedback provided to operators.
Ensuring that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained throughout the magazine area and that machinery and equipment is kept in a safe operational condition.
Ensuring that operations cease when working conditions are unsafe.
Controlling an emergency situation in the work area according to emergency procedures until handover to Site Supervisor
Encouraging employees to participate and support the continuous improvement systems for safety.
Ensure that the safety health and environmental performance of the Tocumwal magazines and products handled through this center are conducted in accordance with the ORICA Safety Charter.
Distribution Management:
Ensuring that the Distribution Safety schedule is met, and adequate feedback is provided to Distribution Operators.
Manage machinery and equipment breakdowns to minimise business interruption
Ensure communication of “post goods issue” progress.
Liaising with site Distribution Officer to ensure documentation flows in a timely manner to meet scheduled requirements.
Manage explosives limits within the magazines as required by the Explosives Regulations
Ensure accuracy of operation of the magazine inventory
Ensure cost effective and timely delivery of product. Establish cost effective working relationships with distribution contractors. Deliver agreed level of service. Ensure magazines and inventories are compliant with regulatory requirements.
Metrics
SHEC and Compliance
SHE Plan (ensure all activities are compliant with Orica and regulatory requirements); operation audit compliance;
UIR (report & investigate);
Safety statistics, product stewardship policy.
Distribution Management:
Inventory accuracy, magazines maintained in a manner to ensure compliance with regulatory and Orica requirements.
Feedback from distribution contractors and customers.
Manifest Accuracy and timely availability of documents.
People and Communication:
Effective team working relationships.
Coaching and mentoring other team members in Magazine management skills.
Critical Experience and Qualifications
Skills:
Technical and practical –
Sound knowledge of the Distribution Process.
A good understanding of the quality system.
Knowledge of SHE policy and regulations governing the National code for the transport of explosives by road.
Hazard / risk analysis skills
Basic knowledge of ergonomics and manual handling technique

Education and Experience:
2 – 3 years operational experience in the Distribution area.
Leadership experience would be an advantage.
Experience as a trainer in a distribution environment.
Some exposure to SAP is advantageous.
Have completed or be willing to complete the Orica Magazine Keeper Training
