Proposal Summary:

The Comprehensive Bilateral Anti-Trafficking Program in Zambia is a 20 month program that aims to strengthen the efforts of Zambia’s government and civil society organizations to prevent human trafficking; proactively identify, protect, and provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care for victims of trafficking; effectively investigate, prosecute, and convict perpetrators of human trafficking; and create an enabling environment to promote effective collaboration and partnerships to address human trafficking.

Position Summary:

ABA ROLI is seeking a Senior Counter-Trafficking Advisor who will provide overall direction and guidance to all aspects of the program’s work focused on human rights and anti-trafficking in particular.

S/he will lead the development of sustainable strategies to implement activities across the four Ps – Prevention, Protection, Prosecution, and Partnership to combat trafficking. S/he will be responsible for providing leadership on activities and coordinating and communicating with team members.

This will be a full-time position based in Zambia and report to the ABA ROLI Program Manager. This position is open to local as well as international candidates.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a substantial role in program implementation for the anti-trafficking program.
  • Work directly with the program team to achieve program objectives, including adapting program designs in order to respond to emerging needs.
  • Participate in the organization of program meetings, trainings, conferences, seminars and workshops.
  • Assist in developing and updating all relevant program work plans and ensure effective and accountable implementation of program activities.
  • Represent ABA ROLI in meetings with partners, donors, and institutions related to the anti-trafficking program.
  • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree or equivalent, or in social sciences, such as international development, public policy, human rights or other areas directly related to providing services to vulnerable populations, or equivalent experience. A Master’s Degree or equivalent in law is strongly preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in the field of child protection, human rights and/or the protection of vulnerable groups, and anti-trafficking, at least some of which was in a development context.
  • Experience in Zambia or in similar contexts is highly desirable.
  • Sound understanding of Zambia development needs and political environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to develop excellent relations with Zambia counterparts and donor representatives.
  • Previous experience working with international development implementing partners, anti-trafficking groups, civil society organizations, and/or the government of Zambia is strongly encouraged.
