Call for Proposals: Short-term Research on Food Security Early Action in East Africa
We seek proposals from interested researchers or organizations to carry out short-term research projects that contribute to at least one of the ‘Challenge Questions’ that frame our research, learning and innovation agenda: Data for effective early action; Coordinating for effective early action; Financing for effective early action; Trust in data and evidence for early action; and Effective early action at Community level.
We expect to allocate up to £200,000 to between two and five separate projects.
Successful candidates will be expected to:

1 As examples: “Which financial mechanisms can be used at scale to support early action against
environmental shocks in the pastoral regions of East Africa?”, “Where early warnings have not translated into broad-scale early action by communities or other actors, what practical solutions or innovations can close this disconnect to build faster and more effective early action against future shocks?”
Budget
costed in the application.
Partnerships
Proposals which have clear links to partners in East Africa and/or Jameel Observatory consortium
members are particularly welcome. Collaboration is encouraged.
