Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have: –

  • Served in the grade of Principal Superintending Engineer (Irrigation) for a minimum

    period of three (3) years;
  • Bachelor’s D e g r e e in a n y of t h e following d i s c i p l i n e s : – Agricultural

    Engineering, Agricultural and Bio-systems Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering,

    Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering, Environmental and Bio-systems

    Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a

    recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Irrigation

    Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Engineering Systems, Land and

    Water Engineering, Soil and Water Engineering, Environmental Engineering and

    Management, Water Resources Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a

    recognized institution.
  • Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
  • Current v a l i d annual practicing license from the E n g i n e e r s Registration Board ( ERB);
  • Corporate membership with the Institute of Engineers of Kenya (IEK);
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Progamme lasting not less than six (6)

    weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in computer application skills;
  • and demonstrated a hi gh degree of professional competence and administrative

    capability required for effective planning, direction, control and coordination of

    irrigation engineering development programmes and projects
