American Bar Association Consultant For Comparative Legal Analysis Jobs in Zambia
Objectives of the Project
The objectives of the project are to advance broader democratic governance reform through constitutional, legal, regulatory and policy reform and implementation, and institutionalize inclusive, responsive, and effective systems of governance; promote electoral integrity through a more independent, transparent and effective electoral management body, the Electoral Commission of Zambia; support robust civil society oversight of political and electoral processes throughout the entire electoral cycle; and to promote women’s political participation and an improved enabling environment for women in politics.
Scope of Work
ABAROLI is seeking one legal expert with knowledge and experience working on topics dealing with judicial laws and judicial accountability at a regional/international levels. The specific deliverables include:
Conduct a comparative legal analysis of laws affecting judicial autonomy in Zambia and regionally/internationally. The analysis must also identify best practices, identify gaps in Zambia’s legislation and provide recommendations on how to implement best practices in Zambia.
Prepare a document containing the analysis for use by Zambian CSOs.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Constitutional and Administrative Law. A PhD in Constitutional Law is an added advantage.
At least 5-10 years of professional experience at national, regional, or international levels in judicial setups and administration.
Good understanding of country context and legal system in Zambia (preferred)
Strong understanding of regional best practices in judicial systems and laws
English fluency and excellent communication and presentation skills.
Experience performing similar tasks
