This position is in UNEP’s Corporate Services Division, Enterprise Solutions Section at the Nairobi duty station, fully working in the office. The incumbent will report to DevOps team lead, with overall supervision by the Chief Enterprise Solutions Section, and will be responsible for the following duties: Duties and Responsibilities
Participate as a team member in business automation initiatives to streamline work processes using platforms such as PowerApps, flows, and Jira.
Develop detailed system schemas, data dictionaries, functional specifications, and user documentation.
Gather and document users’ requirements and translate these into innovative digital applications; determine application systems integration and linkage issues.
Work as a team member of developers, particularly in implementing PHP and PowerApps solutions and related back-end MySQL and MS SQL databases.
Maintain, upgrade, or enhance existing systems; troubleshoot and provide continuing user support.
Drafts correspondence and communications, including technical support communication and other related issues; coordinates with service providers as required and maintains and supports a portfolio of applications.
Keeps abreast of developments in the field; conducts research on new technologies and assists in implementing them.
Performs other related duties as required. The consultant will be supervised by the DevOps team lead, in Enterprise Solutions Section/CSD.
Qualifications/special skills
High school diploma is required.
Technical/vocational training and certification in information technology or other related areas is required.
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in software development, Web application design and development, technical requirement documentation, or related areas is required.
Work experience in Low-Cod/No Code application development, APIs, and DevOps are highly desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for this post.
