Pupose of the Job:

The role holder has the responsibility for analyzing, designing, developing, Implementing and evaluating knowledge, skill, process and behaviour-based Class room training workshops, out bound training and on the job training and coaching for Field Sales Personnel. S/he is responsible for improving the skills of the sales personnel of the divisions that enables them to effectively promote and sell the products of the Organization and to provide on-going training support to the sales team through motivating, developing and engaging them.

Besides these, S/he the accountability for creating and maintaining annual training budget, taking care of venue & logistics management for all training programs. S/he has to develop training materials internally or with the help of Head- L&D or consultants engaged from outside from time to time as per need.

The incumbent also bears the responsibility for evaluating effectiveness and outcome of training and provide regular inputs to the Cluster Lead Manager, Country Manager-East Africa, Head-L&D.

Key Responsibilities

Training Need Analysis

  • To conduct a detailed training need analysis for entire field force through field visits, participation in business strategy meetings, discussion with Cluster Lead Managers, Country Manager- East Africa and Head – L&D.

    Content Creation & Updation
  • To create E-Learning and other training contents as and when necessary. To update e-learning and other training content as and when required with involvement / approval of relevant functional and administrative heads.

    Planning

  • To create and map out continuous training needs of Field Sales Force in consultation with Cluster Lead Managers, Country Manager-East Africa and Head-L&D, and share strategic intent and annual training calendar and budget with Country Manager – East Africa and Head-L&D a minimum of two months before the beginning of the next financial year.To ensure that every international training program, either on-the-job or classroom training is conducted within the budget amount and as per annual calendar that is approved by the Head–L&D.

    Execution:

    To execute the training plan in coordination with Country Manager- East Africa & Head – L&D which involves:

  • To deliver training for all the new joinees, experienced field force through own efforts in an effective manner and within budgets.
  • To follow annual training calendar meticulously.
  • To execute seamlessly while ensuring end to end logistical arrangements for relevant trainings around the year.
  • Overseeing the arrangement for venue and communication to all participants and respective Cluster Lead Managers.
  • Communicating the training agenda to all stake holders and facilitators for the induction training, refresher courses, MDPs, skill training workshops, on the job training and any other training and coaching conducted from time to time.

    Focus on Sales Training:

  • To organize, facilitate and supervise sales related trainings for existing field sales employees keeping the organization’s perspective in consideration which requires:
  • Gaining insights into own therapy and products to have better understanding of each product.
  • Proactively seeking sales inputs from east Africa countries businesses to ensure an up to date/relevant sales training process and focus efforts towards training delivery.
  • Ensuring a clear line of sight between Walter Bushnell’s sales focus/objectives and the corresponding sales trainings delivered in the zone.
  • Collaborating with Cluster Lead Manager and other key executives to develop Walter Bushnell’s sales capability across the field through on the Job and classroom training.

    Monitoring and Performance Tracking:

    To monitor induction, refresher and other training programmes held zonally and internationally and provide regular inputs to respective functions which includes:

  • Tracking the performance of every participant by conducting a rigorous evaluation and linking it to the performance in the organization or for new joinees for further selection into the organization as applicable
  • To share the training report and output for each candidate with respective functional managers and administrative managers for their further on the job development and future trainings.

    Team Support

  • To gain support of his superiors and peers in L&D/Marketing/Medical/Sales Admin/HR functions and of the zonal and international sales managers for conducting trainings at Walter Bushnell-Mauritius and this includes: Regularly interacting with his/her colleagues in L&D/Marketing/Medical/Sales Admin / HR / International sales team to identify and remove any influencing factors that may hinder performance.

    Adherence to Company Norms, Policies & Codes of Conduct:

  • Regularly, under guidance of reporting manager, identify own training needs and undertake defined and measurable initiatives towards measurable self- improvement.

    Key Decisions: S/he has to take decisions related to:

  • International training need analysis
  • Framing annual training calendar and budgeting
  • E-Learning & other training content creation and updation
  • Training logistics management
  • Design objectives and strategies and evaluation parameters for performance improvement of field force through on-the-job training and coaching
  • Conducting and evaluating output of training workshops conducted
  • Keeping tight control on training budget

    Knowledge / Education

  • Bachelor degree (with 8+4+4 system of education) Science /Pharmacy/Nursing with post graduate business management or international level training management function is desirable. A certification in learning & development is preferable.

    Desirable Experience:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in sales function with a min of 2 years of successful track record of working as Sales Manager and a min of 5 -6 years of working as a Training Manager at national level in reputed companies.
