Job Summary
Umba is currently in search of an Accountant to join our team based in our Kilimani Office. In this role your job entails maintaining financial records, conducting analyses, ensuring tax compliance, supporting audits, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of financial principles, attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, and effective communication.
Responsibilities
Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the organization, including ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Budget Management: Assist in the development, monitoring, and management of the company’s budgets.
Fixed Asset Register: Create and maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date register of the Company’s assets.
Tax Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with all relevant tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns accurately and on time.
Audit Preparation: Prepare financial documents and records for both Internal and external audits and assist with audit processes as necessary.
Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decision-making.
Expense Tracking: Monitor and control expenses to ensure efficient use of company resources.
Reconciliations: Reconciliation of bank statements and failed transactions both in the Core Banking System and the Accounting system
Financial Software: Proficiently use accounting software and tools to manage financial data effectively.
Compliance: Stay updated on accounting and financial regulations, and ensure the company’s financial activities adhere to these regulations.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) may be required or preferred.
Experience: 1 to 5 years
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel) and a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and thoroughness in financial record-keeping and reporting.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial information and collaborating with colleagues and external parties.
Integrity: A commitment to maintaining the highest level of ethics and confidentiality in handling financial data.
