Uganda Cancer Institute ICT Systems Administrator Jobs
Job Purpose:
To create patients records and information and retrieve them for clinicians and researchers according to the established procedures.
Qualification:
An Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Telecommunication, Information Systems or another related field.
Three to five years of work-related networking and telecommunications experience.
Prior experience with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking implementations is an added advantage.
Experience with networking protocols including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, WAN/LAN TCP/IP
Key competencies required for the post:
The incumbent should have key competences in:
Information Communication Technology, Planning, Organizing and coordinating, Telecommunications technology and knowledge,
good understanding of international protocols and conventions, Knowledge and skills in basic electronics, maintenance and repair.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Establishing communications systems by installing, operating, and maintaining voice and data telecommunications network circuits and equipment.
Installation of Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephones (DECT) using EPABX systems and trouble shooting.
Diagnosing and resolve hardware failures, network operating system problems and other LAN/WAN related malfunctions.
Providing day to day user support and solutions to users for Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) lines (E1).
Installation of Voice over Internet Protocol VOIP telephones and providing knowledge on their functionality.
Establishing voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables.
Installing data and telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and fire-suppression systems; programming features; establishing connections and integrations; following industry standards; activating remote access tools; and coordinating with contractors.
Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables and recording configuration diagrams and
specifications.
Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network back-up procedures, and updating documentation.
Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Performing all other duties as may be assigned.
