Position Summary:

The Successful candidate’s main responsibility will be to provide technical support in the planning and implementation of HIV activities across supported facilities. He/she will be responsible for mentoring HIV/ART services and HIV prevention activities at the site and its catchment area.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support health workers at facilities to deliver quality HIV care services.
  • Assist clients in adhering to antiretroviral drugs and managing infections.
  • Mentor facility staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in HIV care and prevention services.
  • Improve monitoring and evaluation of HIV care services, using site data to enhance quality and performance.
  • Implement HIV care policies, guidelines, and prevention measures from the Ministry of Health and PEPFAR.
  • Represent MUWRP PEPFAR programs at facility and district levels as assigned.
  • Address site issues and offer technical assistance for prompt resolution.
  • Collaborate with district personnel to provide integrated information for improving HIV/AIDS care.
  • Develop strategies for tracking and following up with HIV clients, including pregnant/breastfeeding women and exposed infants.
  • Strengthen documentation and records management for MCH and HIV data.
  • Enhance the identification and streamlining of referral and linkage systems for HIV-positive clients.

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Training of trainers’ (TOT) certificate will be an added advantage.
  • ART Management training and relevant job experience of at least three (3) years working experience in a local district set up.
  • Must be Registered and Licensed with the Nursing Council of Uganda.
  • More than 3 years’ experience in the implementation of PMTCT/Programmatic activities.

    Personal attributes & physical ability:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experienced at capacity building and facilitating training and mentoring
  • Knowledge of HIV program policies and strategies that guide community and facility programs.
  • Training in the Uganda HIV Prevention, care and treatment guidelines 2020
  • Ability to permanently reside in Buikwe
  • Ability to frequently travel to the MUWRP PEPFAR supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe and Buvuma Islands.
  • Ability to travel on water
