Bowmans Law Firm Junior Financial Accountant – Finance Department Jobs in Johannesburg, South Africa
Purpose:
Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the departmental accounting systems, policies and procedures. Supports the finance department through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data; verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of source documentation.
Experience and Qualifications:
2 – 3 years in a similar role in a professional services environment
Advanced Excel skills
BCom (Accounting) essential
Key Accountabilities
Reports:
Run and save the General Ledger Reports on the monthly to ensure they pull through correctly.
Ensure that items on the GL reconciliations are allocated correctly as per departmental budgets.
Testing and analysis of new reports to ensure figures are reflecting correctly and identify problems that need to be corrected before rollout to users
General Journal Processing
Raising of relevant Journals as requested
Monthly Accruals
Compile accrual lists and ensure that it is complete every month end
Liaise with creditor’s clerks to make sure that suppliers send invoices on time
Petty Cash
Reconcile the petty cash payments monthly against the float and ensure it balances.
Timekeeper Budgets and secretarial schedules
Ensuring all budgets reflect correctly on all starter’s and leavers schedule.
Ensure that changes captured by 3E team are reflecting correctly on timekeeper maintenance and update FTE records on 3E
Upload SA Timekeeper Budgets on 3E and ensure figures are pulling through correctly on the team reports
Update the starters and leavers salary schedule for the secretaries and adjust the data on 3e FTE
Verifying Payment Batches
Cross checking information on the bank upload sheet to ensure banking details match with the supplier invoices
Verify the payment batch on the banking online system
Annual Budgets
Supporting management in the preparation of annual budgets.
Relationship Building
Develop and maintain relationships with all levels of staff as a trusted resource.
Maintain strong working relationships with and have open and transparent communication between all members of the team
