The Shaping Futures: African-European Network on Development and Sustainability Academy (Shaping Futures Academy), formerly known as the BMZ African-German Leadership Academy, a transformative dialogue and training program aimed at nurturing early to mid-career professionals from select African and European countries.

This initiative aims to empower aspiring leaders by fostering meaningful discussions and training sessions, ultimately propelling positive change for sustainability in their communities and beyond.

Empowering Leaders for Sustainable Change:

The Shaping Futures Academy focuses on empowering future leaders from African (Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, and Zambia) and European (EU, EEA, and UK) nations. The program invites individuals who are deeply committed to sustainable development and governance issues and are driven to make a tangible impact in their spheres of influence.

Qualifications and Eligibility:

If you align with the vision of catalyzing transformation towards sustainability, we encourage you to apply if you:

Are a national or permanent resident of one of the participating countries.

Fall within the age range of 25 – 40 years old.

Work on issues relevant to sustainable development and governance.

Possess a minimum of three years’ work experience (non-remunerated experience is also recognized).

Have the support of your employer (written support required as part of the application).

Demonstrate a proficient command of the English language (equivalent to B2 level of the CEFR).

Embrace cultural diversity and value teamwork, reflection, and diverse working methods.

Hold a valid passport at the time of travel.

*Note: Older applicants, especially those who have taken extended periods of parental leave, may also be considered.
