This job description (JD)/scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Organizational Strategy Consultant of the 2023 Strategic Review Meeting hosted by Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered and based in Nigeria to bring innovative solutions to the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) services to states in Nigeria.

Background:

TAConnect was established by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to deliver tailored and cohesive support to states in Nigeria by strengthening their PHC systems and enhancing PHC service delivery.

As an innovative platform, we respond to state TA priorities to promote sustainable improvements in state Primary Healthcare (PHC) systems’ performance and increase uptake of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) services. The Organizational Strategy Consultant will coordinate and facilitate the TAConnect 2023 Strategic Review Meeting (SRM). He/she will support the development of the TAConnect 2024 management strategy and business sustainability plan. He/she will also foster team spirit and bonding during the Strategic Review Meeting (SRM).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Review/facilitate TAConnect’s year 2023 performance – reflect on successes and failures and capture relevant learning.
  • Facilitate TAConnect 2024 management strategy and business sustainability.
  • Foster team spirit and bonding in the Strategic Review Meeting (SRM) for enhanced productivity, innovation, and creativity

    Deliverables

  • Planning meeting with the TAConnect Team to develop and finalize the agenda
  • Facilitation of the Strategic Review Meeting (SRM).
  • Submit the Strategic Review Meeting (SRM). Report with a clearly articulated framework to address operational gaps and improve organizational systems to boost efficiency to achieve the strategic focus for the year 2024.
  • Provide technical support to TAConnect management on the development of the strategy and business sustainability plan for 2024.

    Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in public administration, public health, Health Financing, Health Economics, social sciences, management or equivalent (master’s degree is preferred).
  • Minimum 12 years of work experience managing contemporary HR systems and operations processes in organizations/projects of similar size and complexity in Nigeria or a similar setting, including a minimum of five years of senior management leadership with a USG/any donor-funded organization/project.
  • Experience or a strong understanding of organizational effectiveness and change management, branding, business development, and sustainability in the NGO space, will be preferred.
  • Ability to understand organizational team dynamics and provide simple, sustainable- solutions to achieve long-term plans.
  • Strong Program Development/Management background with advanced analytical and problem-solving/conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong Presentation skills, Communication Report-writing skills, Time management skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently. Reasonable flexibility with deliverables and work hours.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in donor reporting requirements required, with specialized experience in USG reporting requirements is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel to other states in Nigeria for the facilitation.

    Supervision

    The Organizational Strategy Consultant will report directly to the Executive Director, with dotted reporting to the Director, Finance and Operations. S/he will work closely with the SRM Planning Committee.

    Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment

    This is a short-term position based in Abuja, Nigeria, with a consultancy period of 10 days.
