Job Description

Sunvado manufacturing Plc is a processing facility for premium organic avocado oil located in the heart of the organic avocado growing region in Ethiopia, about 300km south of Addis Ababa. The facility is owned by Tradin Organic, a global company that specializes in organic ingredients and raw materials for the food industry.

Summary of the job description

We are looking for highly diligent candidates with excellent attention to detail for the role of quality manager. The Manager Quality Assurance (QA) will oversee the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization’s products and/or development processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and further develop quality control processes.
  • Manage product specifications.
  • Ensuring products comply with legal and food safety standards.
  • Assure that quality program is followed, tests are done on time and in a proper way. Report on defaults. Give follow up to corrective actions.
  • Create improvement plan on KPI’s. Create management review and action program. Give follow up to the actions.
  • Evaluate/report the need for training on quality and food safety in the organization. Execute the training for quality and food safety.
  • Maintain the certificates of the organization including organic certification. Manage external audit program, participate in the audit program and give follow up to the corrective actions. Give follow up to changes in the standards of the different certificates.
  • Responsible for the pest control program.
  • Maintains and take part in the internal audit program. Including hygiene audits. Reports on the audits. Give follow up to the corrective actions.
  • Develops, implements, manages, and tracks effectiveness of an integrated program, including systems, standards, procedures, measures, and tools to assure that food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements are met for food products and operations.
  • Develops and delivers effective communications that provide partners at all levels with appropriate awareness and knowledge of quality assurance standards, program updates and process changes.
  • Lead the Food Safety team at respective site. Give implementation to the HACCP program. Give follow-up to the CCP’s.
  • Verification of the cleaning program.
  • When there is a complaint. Lead the investigation, when needed develop corrective and preventive actions. For see the customer with a proper answer.
  • Represents quality assurance on enterprise-wide cross-functional teams.
  • Stays up to date and builds expertise in food safety best practices, public health regulations and industry best practices.

    Requirements and skills

  • BSC degree in applied chemistry, Microbiology, Food, or related engineering field.
  • 5 years’ experience out of which 3 year as quality manager in food processing plant.
  • Proven experience as quality manager.
  • Conscientious and responsible.
  • Self-starting and positive
  • A keen eye for detail and a result driven approach
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.
  • Certification of Food safety management system, quality control and organic certification is a strong advantage (FSSC 22000 etc.)

    Job Requirements

    Language

  • English: speaking and writing is a must.

    Location of Job

    Preferably based in Yirgalme or based in Hawassa with daily travel to the factory (45min drive).
