JKUAT Enterprises Upstream Petroleum Officer (Development and Production) Jobs in Kenya
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent qualification from a recognized university;
Membership in good standing of a relevant professional body, where applicable; and
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Responsibilities
Drilling operations
Establishing the number of wells to be drilled to reach production objectives;
Determining the recovery techniques to be used to extract the fluids within the reservoir;
Assessing the type and cost of installations depending on environmental characteristics;
Assessing separation systems for gas and fluids and Establish proper treatment systems needed to preserve the environment;
Developing, preparing proposals and supporting projects;
Managing relationships with clients; and
Overseeing reservoir engineering.
Reservoir Operations
Checking on reservoir engineering studies made by oil companies as well as the development and application of reservoir optimization techniques;
Working within a multi-discipline team environment to review reservoir data, analysis and calculations, and apply models to characterize reservoir or field properties;
Reviewing economic evaluations as well as field evaluation, development and planning, and decline curve analysis;
Predicting and evaluate water flood and enhanced recovery performance;
Check on activities to optimize producing assets from a reservoir perspective carrying out reservoir simulation studies to optimize recoveries;
Developing reservoir performance prediction, cost-effective monitoring and surveillance programs and prepare estimates of in-place hydrocarbon volume;
Reviewing surveillance, analysis and provide direction on subsurface engineering required for proper reservoir management of assets; and
Checking on reservoir and production due diligence performed on potential farm-ins and acquisitions, developing and applying reservoir optimization techniques.
Production Operations
Undertaking petroleum production monitoring and evaluation;
Conducting Petroleum Assets management planning;
Working over design and execution;
Undertaking production equipment design;
Assisting in production cost estimates and budgets; and
Actively engage partners, service companies and regulatory Agencies on a regular basis.
Petroleum Operations
Liaising with geoscientists, production and reservoir engineers and commercial managers to interpret well-logging results and predict production potential;
Compiling development plans of reservoir performance using mathematical models;
Checking on companies’ selection of optimal tubing size and suitable equipment in the well for different functions;
Checking on the design of completion operations and suitability of possible secondary and other recovery techniques;
Checking on problems of fluid behavior and solutions of control tools; and
Studying and controlling the use of well and reservoir remote sensing technology and surveillance data for deciding on appropriate and enhanced engineering interventions.
