Job Profile
Christian Health Association of Kenya is seeking to hire an experienced Program Officer OVC to be based in Nairobi supporting Kajiado and Machakos Counties in the CDC- funded CHAP Stawisha project. The project supports HIV/TB/OVC services in faith based and county health facilities across 15 counties in the country, with offices in Meru, Embu, Kitui and Nairobi.
The job holder shall support the provision of services to OVC (orphans and vulnerable children) in supported HIV care and treatment facilities and local implementing partners for the CHAP Stawisha Project.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure implementation of minimum OVC packages according to the recommended National Guidelines and case management approach.
Ensure preparation of work-plans and timely technical reports for OVC as required.
Represent CHAP Stawisha in stakeholder meetings at both County and National levels
Provide technical assistance to Local Implementing partners LIPs and facilities in key areas of OVC programming, HIV/AIDS prevention, family approach to Resilience and GBV post- violence care.
Ensure that the referral systems for OVC Project Beneficiaries are efficient and effective.
Work with LIPs to identify OVCs, assess the OVCs identified and provide basic package of services to OVCs and the households.
Monitor, mentor and provide supportive supervision to Local implementing partners for the services provided to OVC and their caretakers and service quality improvement at facility level
Participate in the planning and facilitation of technical workshops and training for capacity building in OVC programming for CHAP Stawisha.
Ensuring provision of high-quality care for caregivers with HIV (PLWHIV) using a family approach, targeting both PLWHIV and OVCs.
Ensuring appropriate referrals to care and treatment, points of referral for prevention and other OVC activities.
Leading implementation of prevention evidence – based interventions targeted at youth and OVC through CBIM, FMP, HCBF.
Support monitoring and evaluation of OVC services in CHAP Stawisha.
Conduct DQAs with LIPs as part of regular OVC monitoring.
Ensure timely and correct reporting for OVC programming in the required platforms.
Any other lawful duties as assigned by the supervisor within the scope and nature of the position.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Gender, International Development, Development Economics, or a related field
At least five (5) years of work experience in OVC Programming
Experience in supporting Household Economic Strengthening
Experience in OVC Case Management approach aimed at increasing resiliency of the child and the family.
Demonstrated experience in collaborating with stakeholders e.g., DREAMS, Department of Children Services and Department of Health in identifying, enrolling, and cross-referring OVC.
Working knowledge of the Children Protection Information Management System (CPIMS).
In-depth understanding of donor expectations for program results, outcomes, impact, and reporting.
Ability to implement participatory action planning approaches and engage County, Sub- County and Ward-level stakeholders.
Experience monitoring Programs and collecting relevant data preferred.
Excellent understanding of the Department of Children Services and County Department of Health’s structures and services.
Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Observation, active listening, and analysis skills with ability to make sound judgment.
Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners and community members and inspire teamwork among diverse partners without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Attention to details, accuracy, and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities.
