About the Job
A new exciting opportunity exists for a talented and experienced quantitative, machine learning specialist and software developer within the FinTech team in Deloitte Financial Services Advisory, based in Johannesburg. We are seeking a driven, innovative individual to assist with some of our challenging, state-of-the-art machine learning and global software development projects.
The successful candidate will have a strong quantitative background with specific focus on machine learning, coupled with software development experience.
Essential Duties:
Designing and developing machine learning systems to add value in the market through speed, automation & insights
Implementing and fine-tuning appropriate machine learning algorithms based on various requirements
Designing and developing quantitative engines and algorithms underpinning prospective software applications
Identifying areas for upgrade and modification in existing applications and development thereof
Design of training material on machine learning
Writing and implementing efficient code
Working closely with other developers, UX designers, business and systems analysts
Qualifications
Tools and Experience:
3-5 years of experience in quantitative modelling in one or more of the following areas: credit risk, market risk, financial models or statistical models
Intermediate to advanced knowledge in researching and implementing machine learning algorithms and systems
Intermediate to advanced level coding experience in the following languages compulsory: Python, C#
Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (keras) and libraries (sci-kit learn)
Understanding data structures, data modeling and software architecture
Experience using Git
Object-orientated programming skills
Experience in working with cloud environments advantageous
Experience working in containerized environments such as Kubernetes, Docker, etc. advantageous
Minimum 3 years of banking experience in industry or as a consultant
Experience in working with other individuals
Qualification:
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative field such as Computer Science Engineering (Software, Financial, etc.), Mathematics, Statistics or Physics
Master’s Degree in aforementioned disciplines is a plus
Technological certifications are a plus e.g. Cloud certification
