Grants for Co-Financing of Development Cooperation and Global Education Projects (Latvia)
The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is launching a co-financing grant project competition “Support for Development Cooperation and Development (Global) Education Projects” for 2023 in the Recipient Countries Defined by the Republic of Latvia and in the Republic of Latvia.
Global education is an active learning process that, based on the principles of solidarity, equality, inclusion and cooperation, creates public understanding of development processes in the world and promotes the participation of individuals and organizations in solving current local and global issues.
Purpose of Competition
The purpose of the competition is to provide co-financing to civil society organizations (non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and social partners) that have received funding from other development cooperation financiers, including for the implementation of European Commission, development cooperation and global education projects.
Within the framework of the competition, priority will be given to development cooperation projects for the support of partner countries.
The following priority recipient countries are defined in the competition:
For development cooperation projects – any partner country, however, in the order of evaluation, priority will be given to projects in the Eastern Partnership countries of the European Union (hereinafter – EU) (especially Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine), Central Asian countries (especially Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan), as well as African countries.
For development (global) education projects, the venue of which is the Republic of Latvia.
Funding Information
The total available funding from the Latvian state budget is EUR 50,000 from the financial resources allocated to the Ministry’s budget program.
The amount of co-financing is applied to the year 2023 and is calculated from the planned expenses within the calendar year of 2023.
Project activities in 2023 are co-financed from the funds of the Latvian state budget. Project activities must be implemented by December 15, 2023.
The report on the implementation of the project must be submitted by December 22, 2023.
The minimum grant amount that can be awarded for project implementation is EUR 500 (five hundred euros).
The maximum amount of the grant that can be awarded for the implementation of the project is 80% of the total amount of co-financing funds provided for in the project within the calendar year 2023, which must be provided by the project implementer.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants are civil society organizations registered in the Republic of Latvia – non-governmental organisations and social partners.
