Norwegian Church Aid Country Director Jobs in Nigeria

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) has been operating in the north-east of Nigeria since 2017, delivering humanitarian assistance and conflict-affected areas. As a hybrid programme, NCA works closely with national partners but also implements its projects in WASH and GBV/ASRH operationally.

The country programme is embedded in the UN-led response in the BAY-states (Borno, Adamawa and Yobe), which reflects its funding base. The Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF-OCHA), UNICEF and UNFPA are important partners. The main donor is NMFA via the SPA.

As our new Country Director, you will be situated in Maiduguri, Borno, where you will lead the country office with currently 40 national staff members.

You will directly line manage the office’s senior management team and a few other staff members including 4 expatriate colleagues. You will live together with your colleagues in the Maiduguri guesthouse.

Next to ensuring good strategic leadership and day to day management of the country office including representation, is working on further diversification of the portfolios funding base.

You will skilfully represent programme priorities to donors, national and regional partners while providing effective leadership to the senior management team.

You will make use of your excellent communications skills in retaining and developing relations, internally and externally with the head office in Oslo, a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, and thrive in evolving and challenging security environments. Travelling between Maiduguri and Abuja is an important necessity for the role.

In NCA we seek leaders who are motivated by our vision, our work, and our values, and who wish to take part in developing our organizational- and leadership culture. To reach our goals, we need leaders who can set direction, lead change, develop organizational culture and use our human and financial resources in the best possible way.
