State Department for Crop Development Assistant Director – Agriculture Jobs in Kenya
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
Served for a minimum period of three (3) years in the grade of Principal Agricultural Officer CSG 8 or in comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;
A Bachelors of Science Degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture; Agronomy; Agribusiness Management and Enterprise Development; Agribusiness Management; Agribusiness; Agricultural Economics and Rural Development; Agricultural Extension and Education; Agricultural Marketing; Agricultural Resource Management; Agriculture and Home Economics; Agriculture and Human Ecology; Crop Protection; Dry-land Resource Management; Dry-land Agriculture and Enterprise Development; Farm Management; Home Economics; Horticulture; Food Science and Technology; or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Supervising collection, analysis and management of agriculture crops data;
Coordinating collection and packaging of new and existing agricultural technologies;
Promoting agribusiness incubation and market development;
Managing and controlling trans-boundary pests, diseases and invasive species;
Undertaking assessment on national crop and food security situation;
Promoting climate change adaptation and mitigation and environmental management in agriculture;
Developing proposals for national agricultural programmes and projects;
Promoting access to affordable credit, crop insurance and inputs for agricultural production in collaboration with stakeholders;
Training agricultural stakeholders; and
Preparing technical reports.
