Any of those “motivational” phrases akin to “choose to be happy”, anything that boils down to “you can choose your own emotions”
Its like, no. You can choose how you react to your emotions, and even there only to a certain degree, but not what emotions you have. Just seems like its trying to make people feel worse about themselves/victim blame, “oh youre depressed? Have you tried choosing not to be depressed? Well its your own fault you can just decide to not be depressed”
