As an au pair I had the most disgusting meal of my life. The host mother loved modifying recipes to make them vegan (because vegan = healthy, regardless calorie or nutritional content, apparently) or fit in with whatever fad diet she was on, which often meant whatever she cooked bore no resemblance to its original recipe. This original recipe was for a salmon and broccoli stir fry with noodles, in a spicy Thai peanut sauce. She made so many substitutions that we ended up eating wholewheat brown spaghetti, with a jar of peanut butter, onion, and chopped rainbow chard. No amount of salt helped me get that down. I still can’t eat anything peanut related since that incident
