What do you think is the reason why it is so difficult to subdue a suspect who is resisting arrest?

because they want to escape more than you want to subdue them.

the fear of losing your freedom is strong amd fierce. people will struggle to the point of hurting others and even themselves.

however, watching plenty of videos of police trying to subdue people, even those who are trying not to resist, I’ve noticed one thing that almost all of the videos have in common.

lack of patience. if you go into anything lacking patience, especially a fight, you are going to have a hard time.

above i mentioned people trying not to resist. what i meant by this was someone who is willing to be arrested but theyre resisting still because theyre being manhandled in bent in unnatural ways, ways that they cannot bend or are simply terribly uncomfortable. or having their face pressed into the dirty, sharp, rock ladden ground.

there’s always multiple perspectives going on in a single situation. most people only look at their own, including those watching it go down or after the fact
