What would you say about transitioning into a career in tech, considering the current layoffs and proliferation of AI?

Be smart about how you transition and it won’t be bad. Seriously while AI is advancing quite well there are a lot of steps needed to make what an AI can output into something useful. One of the most important points is that we still can’t understand why some ai makes the choices it does and until we hit that point it won’t be making final decisions and even if it is used for the base it will still take people who understand it’s workings and how to evaluate it’s output to verify.

Ai is (and for the reasonable life expectancy of the average person today will be) a tool to aid us, an incredibly powerful one true but still it’s just a tool. It needs skilled people to use it effectively to understand it’s inputs processes and outputs and more than likely any answer it gives for something important is going to need a non-ai verification.

So ya some positions will be lost sure ai is a workhorse but you need more than a work horse to run a farm.
