I would like to know what that learning is and perhaps how you came to it.
I’ll start. One of the most important lessons I have learned is to have information before making an opinion. I admit being one of the social media lynch mobs looking for a new reason to be “outraged” and the “enemy” we needed to attack. I later realized the frequency and ease with which the media manipulate us, how they keep us divided and how they benefit from those social divisions. I saw people have their lives destroyed in the name of “social justice.” People accused with false and manipulated information.
I think that one of the great social tragedies that is happening right now is the thought that has been established that “if you don’t agree with me, you are against me.”
In these times of ideological extremism, false social justice, censorship and cancellation, we must be sure of our position and have the information to defend our beliefs and values. Always with the humility to understand that we could be wrong.
Jim Rohn, my favorite speaker of all time, once said: “…we must teach our children to discuss the issues of the moment. Those who cannot stand up for their values and beliefs will fall prey to ideologies that are not in our best interests…”
Today this is truer than ever.
