K Pop, like anything else that builds a fandom, is designed to make their target audience happy in a lot of ways through multiple streams of engagement and building a community with a particular set of terminology and tropes they are familiar with. K Pop naturally has a barrier to some people getting into it because it requires people to read subtitles, but once you are used to it, it is a good gateway into other forms of Asian pop culture such as K dramas and Thai dramas, and has plenty of overlap with anime, manga, and web toons.
