I work in the Correos, the state-owned company in Spain, and once when I was delivering a tax receipt to a lady, she told me that if she could read, because she was illiterate, she did not understand Catalan well (the language in which the letter), she was an immigrant, already retired and her children had abandoned her. I read it to her, and in it said that they were going to repossess her house, the only thing that woman had, and with no chance of getting ahead because of her whole situation. I told her as I knew and could, because she really didn’t feel capable of telling her what she put there.
Since then, if someone asks me to read it to them, I say that by company protocol I can’t. I think it’s something I’ll never forget
