What amount of your life was due to chance encounters?

I was thinking about two things. One is how stay at home and online removes the knowns of having to go out. But it also removes the unknown good things that I don’t think we weight as heavily, like meeting the perfect person in an elevator because it wasn’t optimized to minimize shared passengers.

The other thing I was thinking about was, when so much of life is chance and turns out great (I met the most amazing person it was perfect timing…), how crazy will the future be, where AI assisted social networks can pair you with the perfect people for every point in your life. How efficient could we become?
